Perris voters just gave their city another $18 million a year.

The Press-Enterprise reported that Measure B, approved by Perris voters, raises the city sales-tax rate by one percentage point and is projected to generate $18 million annually.
The reporting examines the city’s fiscal emergency, increasing public-safety and operating costs, declining revenue sources, and the oversight promised for Measure B funds.
“Normally a fiscal emergency means you put a pause to certain expenditures in the city because they’re not necessary.”
Lupe called for Measure B revenue to be connected to specific public needs rather than flowing into the general fund without clear designations. Her standard is direct: designate the funds, publish the results, and account for every dollar.
